The Alexander Technique deals with an area bordering to the unspeakable. Our capability to understand an other person experience depends on our own experience and our modes of thinking. A common language to describe phenomena of the mind exists just fragmentary.

Each profession, and each hobby develop a special terminology, a language that seems foreign to outsiders. But while not everyone shares jobs or favorites, we all have a mind. Like the use of the body, the use of the language reflects holding pattern, or areas of mental rigidity.

By retuning our proprioception we also discover our body in new ways. The language we use to describe our physical condition gets more precise, our body maps become more detailed and fit better to the bodies we live in.

Linguistic precision makes our lifes easier. Language shapes our reality, and only a vivid description of experiences makes them accessible for others. Alfred Korzybski, a contemporary of F.M. Alexander, developed the discipline called 'General Semantics' that illuminates the pit falls inherent in language, and helps understanding the common misunderstandings we encounter daily.

Beware your thought, as they become your words.
Beware your words, as they become your actions.
Beware your actions, as they become your habits.
Beware your habits, as they become your fate.
(Tao Te Ching)
